Easton, Maryland, December 12, 2016 – Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) Afterschool students took a field trip to the Easton Harris Teeter Grocery Store, where they participated in a healthy scavenger hunt and tour.

With the assistance of Harris Teeter’s Assistant Store Manager, Tonya Skinner, the students searched through the local grocery store, identifying foods they have studied in their weekly health enrichment classes. Skinner provided several taste testing stations where students sampled a variety of nutritious items such as cantaloupe, currants and mango juice. Students were also challenged to find out how much a cantaloupe weighs, how many potatoes are in a five-pound bag and how many different types of apples could be found in the store.

All participants received a bag of healthy snacks provided by Harris Teeter. The field trip was made possible through a grant from the Talbot Family Network (TFN) for the Healthy Habits program.
