ChesMRC Wins 2018 Non-Profit of the Year Award

Ever since 1985, the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce has recognized individuals and organizations for their outstanding service to the community.  This year, the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) was honored as the 2018 OUTSTANDING NOT-FOR-PROFIT BUSINESS OF THE YEAR.  This award recognizes the critical role of ChesMRC, bridging language and cultural barriers between clients and services providers and empowering people to thrive as a strong community.

The thirty-fourth Annual Awards Ceremony took place on August 23,

2018, at the Historic Tide Water Inn.  A cheerful group of friends and supporters joined ChesMRC’s staff to receive and celebrate this important recognition.  Executive Director Matthew Peters graciously accepted the award, highlighting the important role of the immigrant community in our local economy and their hard-working values.   Peters also acknowledged his gratitude towards ChesMRC’s Board of Directors, donors, partners, and staff, who wholeheartedly support the mission of empowering people from different cultures to become successful and engaged members of our community.

In receiving this recognition, ChesMRC has joined a list of outstanding nonprofits that make a difference in our community.  Former awardees include: Channel Marker, Inc., Rotary Club of Easton, Chesapeake College, Mid-Shore Pro Bono Inc., Neighborhood Service Center, amongst many others.
