Community Interpreting at Chesapeake College

A new group of Community Interpreters is undergoing training at Chesapeake College with ChesMRC staff and Licensed Instructor, Dr. Lorelly Solano. The 44-hour certificate program prepares bilingual individuals and service providers to offer services with linguistic and cultural competence.  As noted in the picture, students devote a significant amount of time practicing their protocols and sharpening their skills. Having some fun is also encouraged!

The adoption of the Community Interpreter program is an outcome of the the work of the Talbot Language and Cultural Competence project, a multi-agency initiative where ChesMRC and Chesapeake College are key partners.
