ESL – English as a Second Language
Chesapeake College offers free ESL classes in five counties: Talbot, Dorchester, Queen Anne, Kent and Caroline. Weekly registration sessions are also available in all five counties. Please note this schedule varies often.
I want to take English classes. What do I need to do?
Check the registration schedule to find the registration site nearest to you.

• You will need to attend 2 registration sessions before starting class.
o Session 1 (This session takes about 2 hours)
Receive information about classes in or near your community.
Find out days and times of classes.
Talk about your goals and why you want to take English classes.
Complete the registration paperwork.
o Session 2 (This session takes 1 hour)
In this session you will take a test to assess your English level. This test is for us to see how we can best help you meet your language learning goals.
This test is on the computer and will take about one hour to complete.
As you can see, there’s lots to do before you can attend class. That’s why it’s important to arrive on time and have enough time to complete paperwork and take the test in a calm manner.
