The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) empowers people from different cultures to become successful and engaged members of our community by coordinating educational and informational programs. While the organization serves anyone who requests assistance, our primary focus is to help the new non-English speaking population successfully integrate into the community.
One of ChesMRC’s key objectives is to connect this at-risk population to the existing network of public and private service providers. In addition, we support the outreach efforts of these service providers and respond to their requests to intervene in specific cases. ChesMRC became a Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited organization in 2015 and can directly assist, without the need for a lawyer, all immigration cases. ChesMRC also became a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) Organization and can directly enroll or renew families into Medicaid and health insurance plans.
Since it’s inception in November 2012, ChesMRC has provided services to more than 3,000 non-English speakers in Talbot and surrounding counties, involving over 6,000 separate requests for information and referral. No other organization is addressing this need.
ChesMRC is grateful for the continued support it receives from donors and supporters and understands the importance of accountability and transparency in regards to our funding. We invite the public to peruse our financial statements per the links below.
