ChesMRC Scholarship Program
Supporting Access. Rewarding Potential. Building Futures
The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) provides scholarships to high school seniors and undergraduate students pursuing postsecondary education. The program supports students with demonstrated financial need, strong academic potential, and a commitment to achieving their educational goals.
Scholarships are up to $20,000 per academic year based on available funding and application volume. Funds cover tuition, fees, and related educational expenses.
In addition to financial assistance, selected students benefit from mentorship and guidance throughout their academic journey.
Who Should Apply
Students who meet the following minimum requirements:
- Unmet Financial Need
- Academic Achievement (GPA ≥ 3.0; good academic and disciplinary standing)
Priority Consideration
While all eligible students are reviewed, preference may be given to applicants who:
- Are first-generation college students
- Are students from immigrant families
- Reside in the Mid-Shore region of Maryland (Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, or Queen Anne’s County)
- Demonstrate clear educational goals, perseverance, and commitment
- Present a cost-conscious and sustainable educational plan
Application Timeline
Fall Semester
- Apply: April 1 – June 1
- Decisions: Within 30 days, communicated via email
How To Apply
Submit a completed application with all required documents, including:
- Academic transcript
- Financial documentation
- Description of financial need
- Two non-family references
📌 Important: Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered.
Award Guidelines for Academic Scholarships
- To be eligible for a scholarship payment, all applicants must provide written proof of enrollment in the program for which a scholarship is sought before the funds are released.
- ChesMRC will ask for final enrollment verification and educational records release documents. The scholarship is not officially awarded until the finalists return the required documents.
- An annual scholarship award ceremony will be conducted after awards are announced, and all scholarship recipients are requested to attend.
