ChesMRC continues Year 2 Contract with SEEDCO – Connecting Kids to Coverage

As part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Re-authorization Act (MACRA) “Connecting Kids to Coverage” program, Structured Employment Economic Development Corporation (SEEDCO) has contracted with ChesMRC for 2 years to assist with outreach, education, enrollment and re-certification services regarding health insurance for children and their families in both Talbot and Caroline counties.

The program focuses on conducting activities aimed at educating families in our communities to the availability of free or low-cost health coverage under Medicaid and CHIP, identifying children likely to be eligible for these programs and assisting families with the application and renewal process.

Hispanic Outreach Coordinator, Estela Ramirez currently heads the program and last year successfully enrolled and/or renewed 129 families into Medicaid or Health Insurance plans. Ramirez became a Certified Application Counselors (CAC’s) last year, which allows her to provide in – person assistance with determining eligibility for insurance affordability programs including Medicaid and Quality Health Plans/Dental Plans (QHP’s & QDP’s) as well as completing enrollment for plans through the Maryland Health Connection portal.

Through this program, ChesMRC has been able to help bridge health coverage disparities by reaching out to families with lower than average health coverage rates and in turn provide high quality, reliable Medicaid/CHIP enrollment and renewal services.

ChesMRC is excited to continue the partnership with SEEDCO and also Choptank Community Health Systems to make sure all of the families on the mid-shore have the resources needed to obtain adequate health insurance.

If you or anyone you know needs assistance with health insurance, please tell them to call our resource center at 443-786-1120 for more information.
