ChesMRC Expands Services with New Federalsburg Location

FEDERALSBURG, MD — The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) is proud to announce the grand opening and official ribbon-cutting for its new branch in Federalsburg, Maryland. Located at 115 N. Main Street, the new office provides a permanent hub for essential social services, language support, and community programming.

ChesMRC has long been a pillar of the Eastern Shore community, dedicated to ensuring that no neighbor falls through the gaps due to language or cultural barriers. The opening of the Federalsburg location represents a critical milestone in making these vital services more accessible to residents throughout the region.

“This is more than just a physical space; it is a gateway to resources, empowerment, and a stronger, more inclusive community,” said Matthew Peters, Executive Director of ChesMRC. “By establishing a permanent presence in Federalsburg, we are ensuring that local families can access the support they need right where they live.”

The Federalsburg office offers a comprehensive suite of bilingual services (Spanish and Haitian Creole) designed to help residents navigate everyday life, including:

  • Immigration Legal Services: Department of Justice (DOJ) recognized guidance and assistance.
  • Benefits Navigation: Assistance with health insurance enrollment and SNAP/food security programs.
  • Language Support: Interpreting and translations services for Spanish and Haitian Creole

The grand opening event was celebrated with the local community, town officials, community partners, MD State Senator Johnny Mautz and ChesMRC board and staff. The expansion was warmly welcomed by the Town of Federalsburg, which emphasized the profound positive impact these services will have on the area’s multicultural populations. Thanks to Share Our Strength – No Kid Hungry and Caroline Better Together, ChesMRC was able to secure funding to help renovate the space provided by the Town. State Senator Johnny Mautz was present to provide an official citation from the State Assembly and encouraging words for the center and the community it serves.
