ChesMRC Launches Housing Counseling Initiative

Thanks to funding from the Maryland State Housing Fund (MHCF) ChesMRC was able to launch a new initiative to assist the community in understanding the many nuances of the home-buying process.

ChesMRC is excited to begin providing housing counseling classes to our clients.  For over a decade, we have worked closely with the immigrant and non-English speaking community in the MidShore region and seen them grow and prosper.  Many are now ready and looking for guidance on purchasing their new home, and the ChesMRC classes are a great resource for these families.

The first counseling session in January welcomed 22 participants. The class focused on a broad overview of the house purchasing process, explaining how to speak with lenders, and realtors, the documents needed for the lending process, and the next steps after being approved for a home loan. Several participants stayed after to discuss more details with the presenters on the home buying process.

ChesMRC plans on hosting these events 1-2x per month through June to continue informing the community about safe practices when purchasing a home and providing resources about valid lenders, banks and realtors in the area to help those in search of a home.
