ChesMRC offers first language interpreter course on the Eastern Shore

In partnership with Chesapeake College, ChesMRC will be offering the first ever language interpreter course on the Eastern Shore with its cultural competency and interpreter program initiative.

The training will be provided to up to 35 participants and is a comprehensive, 40-hour certificate program that meets the minimum requirements for professional community interpreting.

Carola Green of Cross Cultural Communications

Dr. Solano, ChesMRC’s Hispanic Coordinator for this program, has been working on coordinating the program and bringing the best of the best in to train, Ms. Carola Green of Cross Cultural Communications

The target audience for the course will be fully bilingual perople who would be ready to start working right away or bilingual staff members who sometimes interpret in a public agency. The mission of the program is to begin reducing the language gap in our community and produce qualified trained interpreters for the Mid-Shore.
