Citizenship Day Workshop September 19

AILA-DCThe D.C. Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) will host its 19th Citizenship Day event on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC).

Each year, at sites across the country, AILA attorneys and other stakeholders provide assistance to lawful permanent residents eligible for naturalization.  Last year, AILA and its partner “ya es hora ¡Ciudadanía!” held more than 50 naturalization clinics in 22 states and the District of Columbia serving thousands of immigrants who aspired to become citizens.

September’s workshop is designed to assist immigrants who have been Legal Permanent Residents (Green card holders) for at least 5 years, 3 years if married to a U.S. Citizen. For eligible participants, the workshop will provide free help from trusted immigration attorneys and accredited representatives, including:

  • Citizenship Orientation
  • Eligibility Screening
  • Legal Review and Assessment
  • Application Assistance
  • Information on English and Citizenship Classes
  • Study Material for USCIS Interview

ChesMRC is a 2015 grant recipient of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Hispanic Immigrant Integration project and provides free immigration services to clients including consultations with immigration attorneys and assistance and preparation of immigration forms.
