Ingrid Diaz Lopez Awarded Recognition & Accreditation

The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center, ChesMRC, is proud to announce that Ingrid L. Diaz Lopez was awarded recognition and accreditation by the Executive Office for Immigration Review. This recognition demonstrates Ingrid’s commitment to providing high quality immigration legal services to low income and indigent members of our community through our legal programs here at ChesMRC. With this accreditation, Ingrid can continue her work without the supervision of an attorney or other accredited person.

Over the last two and a half years, Ingrid has coordinated citizenship classes, prepared immigration forms and applications for review by Matthew Peters (BIA accredited) and/or immigration attorneys prior to submission, and demonstrated a deep commitment to the well-being of those she serves.

According to the Department of Justice, “Federal regulations allow non-attorney “Accredited Representatives” to represent immigrants before the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). These representatives are accredited through the Recognition and Accreditation (R&A) Program, which aims to increase the availability of competent immigration legal representation for low-income and indigent persons, thereby promoting the effective and efficient administration of justice. Accredited Representatives may only provide immigration legal services through Recognized Organizations. Only non-profit, federally tax-exempt entities may apply to be recognized.”

With this recognition and accreditation, Ingrid will assist members of our community to receive immigration benefits such as Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence, Temporary Protection Status, and Employment Authorization. Since services can now be rendered without review by attorneys, Ingrid can serve more members of our community independently.

Everyone here at the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center is proud of Ingrid’s achievements and thrilled to see what she will accomplish for our community members who need immigration legal services.
