As part of its expanding health information outreach program, The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC) promoted Michelle Boulden Hammond to full-time Health Outreach Coordinator. Hammond had been serving part-time in this capacity since September 2013.

As Health Outreach Coordinator, Hammond’s role is to identify clients and participants in need of health services and to assist them in receiving the support they need; she will also lead community-focused health education efforts. A licensed and certified Nursing Assistant in both Maryland and Delaware, Hammond has nearly 20 years of experience in the health care industry and a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University.

Funding for this position has come from the Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance award from DHMH; the Local Health Improvement Coalition award, also from DHMH; and the National Library of Medicine. Says Matthew Peters, Director of the ChesMRC, “We are so excited to have the funding to bring Michelle on-board full-time. Having lived on the Eastern Shore and graduated from Easton High School, she really knows and understands the community and its residents – and that’s what our Resource Center needs, since our mission is to assist as many people as possible.”
