November 2020 ChesMRC Newsletter

During November, the After-School Program reinforced the values of being a good citizen and helping others.  Children and their teachers engaged in various activities to practice gratitude, service, and generosity, all in the spirit of “GivingTuesday”, which is coming up on December 1st.  GivingTuesday is a global celebration of generosity, created to transform communities. On this day, nonprofit organizations around the world showcase their unique contributions to society and invite people to engage with them and support their missions.  Everyone has something to give and we are grateful to the children in our After-School Program for sharing their joy, kindness, service, and generosity with our community.

For ChesMRC’s Cub Scout Pack 003, which is part of the After-School Program, gratitude, service, and generosity are paramount to their daily lives. Cub scouts strive to “do a good turn daily” and “to help other people at all times”.  During their discussions, the various dens (small group of Cub Scouts who are in the same grade) spent time developing appreciation for the local organizations that make a difference in our community, especially those that help the most vulnerable.  For instance, the younger kids, who are very fond of their pets, were particularly grateful to the people and organizations that provide care and shelter to animals in need. They also appreciated the health organizations that have been looking after our wellbeing during these challenging times.
